to the 2 or so people i imagine visit this blog from time to time, i apologize for neglecting to post these past two months. i mean to, i really do.
that said, and in lieu of any news to share, i encourage you all to watch ICONOCLASTS on the sundance channel, wherein "the most fearless and relentlessly innovative forces of our time meet one-on-one to explore their shared passions."
seriously, watch this show. it's beyond inspiring.
like the episode with mikhail baryshnikov and alice waters. watching them share their passion for dance and cuisine respectfully, i found myself wanting to dance. cook. do baryshnikov. ohmygod he is so hot. i mean, wow.
moving on.
for good measure, and because i don't know how to put songs on here, a few music viddys (viddies?) from bands you should know. watch. listen. love.
dirty on purpose -- light pollution
chromeo -- needy girl
MSTRKRFT -- easy love
of montreal -- wraith pinned to the mist (and other games)
yes, these are real people. i know because i just entered them into my office's contact database. and cried a little for their most likely traumatic childhoods.
so these quite brilliant friends of mine created a film sharing site. like facebook for filmmakers. like youtube for short films and animation. it's really quite something. it's called pawky.
visit pawky.com to watch and comment on films, and/or upload your own!
here are few i recommend. i'd upload them here, but i'm not smart enough.
manege frei: an encaged circus bear is dreaming of salvation http://pawky.com/featured/manege_frei
intervention: steve's friends offer smiles and hugs as they lovingly force him to confess the truth about bill parcels and, hopefully, one other pressing issue... http://pawky.com/featured/intervention
having recently encountered this first ad, i thought i'd post a few provocative favorites. enjoy.
heartwarming, perhaps. controversial, certainly. but does it move me shop at benetton? hell no. i mean look at those outfits. borrring.
this ad on the other hand, now this ad makes me want to practice whatever marithe & francis girbaud are preaching. so you're saying if i worship the gospel of anorexia i too can be thin and beautiful? nicey.
i don't get this ad. but i have this couch. actually i have two of them. well done, ikea. well done.
and now my favorite: a friend sent me this ad a few years ago. took me a while, but i eventually managed to grasp its brillant subtlety. and then i stocked up on lube.
